My Submission for GBJam 10, using the theme "Plant".

This is a simple tower defense game where you must plant and water seeds to grow your turrets. Protect farmer Pete's prized pumpkin from waves of bugs while also making sure your plants are watered and happy.

There is an in-game tutorial that explains the mechanics. After you've completed the tutorial you can look at the "Help" screen in the pause menu to see what each tool/plant does. You can also replay the tutorial by toggling the "Tutorial" setting in the options menu to "ON".

Controls:

Arrow Keys - Change selection and move character

Z Key - Confirm selection or use your equipped tool

X Key - Hold to bring up your tool wheel and select a tool with the arrow keys

Enter - Pause and un-pause

Turrets/Plants:

Pea Shooter (5g): A basic turret that fires pea projectiles.

Cactus (12g): Periodically fires spikes in a small AOE around itself.

Pollen Sprayer (18g): A turret that sprays continuous pollen, which can pass through and damage multiple enemies.

Sunflower (25g): Buffs nearby plants, increasing their rate of fire.

This was an excellent tower defense!! So stressful in a good way and I liked the additional farmer/watering char. The end was really challenging and the pace was great. It took me a second to get used to the mechanics but it became intuitive pretty quickly.

I tried to use the arrow keys to select the seeds, and it didn't work. I must have done something wrong.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have any other info as to what you saw when it wasn't working? Were you able to move your character and/or open the tool wheel?

If it's a bug with the game I won't be able to fix it during the jam, but I'll at least be able to note it if other people have the same issue.

I could move my character and open the tool wheel, but nothing happened when I pressed the arrow keys.

Hm, okay. It's probably an issue with how the tutorial activates/deactivates your tools. I'll have to look into it. Thank you for the info!

I had this same issue. Feel free to make a fixed version so your game is playable for the jam ratings! Just make a note of what was fixed.
